Forest Holidays Break – Thanks to UGGS Australia
This was the #SummerofUGGS comp and my prize consisted of £500 of UGGS shoes, a 4 day weekend break in a Forest Holidays Couples Hideaway, cost of fuel to get there and £300 of credit to spend on site.
We had an awesome time!
We had a very lazy few days. We had every good intention to walk miles in the local countryside, which did not really happen!
The call of the hot tub and the sunken bath was too much!
On the first day we walked from the Forest Retreat site to the viewpoint at Symonds Yat, which was about two miles in each direction. From the top, you can look across at the rocks and see the Peregrine Falcons nesting there.
On Sunday we did a circular walk down towards the river and then back up the hill.
On Saturday night we went on a night vision walk. The Ranger, Jerry, had a Barn Owl called The Professor and we were allowed to hold him and stroke him. He was so soft!
There are a lot of wild boar in the Forest of Dean and they come up to the cabins at night time. We heard them crashing about in the forest. I did not see any, although Greg says he saw one as he looked through the Night Vision glasses.
The Forest of Dean is very ancient and there are all sorts of wild animals in the Forest, including several varieties of deer.
I was quite surprised to see some Redwood trees in the Forest and their bark felt like fur!
The wooden cabin we had was absolutely gorgeous. It was a real, luxurious Hideaway, with lots of extra treats provided, such as gorgeous bubble bath and chocolates and champagne.
It felt so nourishing to sit in the hottub and stare up at the beautiful Beech Tree that formed a large canopy over our cabin.
We ate mostly in the Forest Retreat café, where we indulged ourselves with a yummy cream tea.
On Sunday night, we had a Pizza Night, with fresh pizza delivered to the cabin. Greg lit the woodburner and we sat there, looking at the clear skies.
