Fabulous Walk with the Ramblers at Blithfield Reservoir
I had a fabulous walk this morning with my new friends from the East Staffordshire Ramblers .
We met at the Car Park at Blithfield Reservoir, just outside Abbots Bromley, Staffordshire. It was a lovely day. The sun was shining, although it was a bit windy. A gorgeous day for walking. There was a group of about 20 people.
I have never walked around here before. Years ago, when I use to come regularly to this area, it was not possible to walk around the Reservoir. It seems like it is only in the last few years that trails have been created and the paths opened up to the public.
We walked down through the woods, across the reservoir and crossed back on ourselves to come to a place for a coffee stop.
There is an abundance of wildlife, as well as several well-placed bird hides for photography.
We walked a sort of figure of eight through the woods, right alongside the reservoir and back up to the car park. It was 4.8 miles in total and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The group have a programme of walks, including midweek and weekend events.
I shall be bringing Greg back here for one of our weekend walks.
I felt very refreshed when I got back to the car.
